DreamChaser: Creating a Large-Scale Interactive Experience
Our client, Sierra Space, is creating the only runway capable spaceplane. This impressive piece of space technology was being promoted with a sub-standard brochure website, and Sierra Space needed to make a BIG impact with investors and interested parties. We envisioned a large format interactive touch screen experience that could also be ported to smaller screens like laptops or ipads.

Designing the Flow: Diagrams and Storyboards
In order to tell the story of how revolutionary the DreamChaser spaceplane is, we envisioned taking the viewer through an entire DreamChaser mission from takeoff to landing. Diagrams and storyboards helped structure the experience and paved the way for the impressive visuals to come.

Interactive Prototyping
I created a fully interactive prototype to give the client a more realized picture of the experience from start to finish. This helped the client understand the content needs for the project and served as a springboard for collaborative conversations.

Content Strategy
With so much information to share, we had to pull out the most impactful facts to grab and keep viewer attention. Each scene featured a few key facts to help illustrate what makes DreamChaser so unique. Animations and highlighted areas invited the viewer to explore more.

QA and Testing
I set up user testing for the key points in the experience. Heatmapping revealed the points of maximum and minimal interest in the designs. It helped show how the viewer’s attention would move throughout each scene.

Installation and Launch
The final experience was launched on a gigantic screen to deliver a larger-than-life story about a small spaceplane that has the potential to change spaceflight in a big way.
